Partners (10)

The partnership is basically composed by Universities whose professors are members of the ISFL (International Society of Family Law) which is an international society of scholars and professionals interested in issues of family law and policy whose objectives are the study and discussion of problems of family law, international co-operation in research on family law subjects, collection and dissemination of information in the field of family law by the publication of a survey, interdisciplinary contact and research, exchanges of teachers, students, judges and practicing lawyers.

Furthermore, the research centres, CRESM and CESMI, help in dissemination of project results, and ITG, as experienced technological partner guarantees the creation and costant supervision of e-Medi@te platform. The initial number of partners might be considered exiguous but, each of the partners has a specific competence that intended to share with the others in order to give to project a solid base on which will be possible gaining all the purposes highlighted and around which develop a wider and active network. Since partners already have continuous contacts, a well organized initial network is guaranteed. Moreover, the common interest on family and civil matters and the need to work for research, strengths their will to overcome the current obstacles to the access to ADR in the Member States.

Public participation - Family mediation

Written by

wellcome letterThe e-Medi@te project plans to create a training model for professionals and individuals who are interested in mediation across the EU, in order to ease the use of mediation in the EU countries and to reinforce European mediators’ skills on mediation techniques, e-Justice tools, and cross-cultural and linguistic communication. Moreover, the project aims (i) to verify whether there are common standards for mediation within the EU; (ii) to facilitate the cooperation and sharing of know-how in the field of mediation and ADRs among European legal professionals; (iii) to create a genuine European area of “soft law” in civil (especially family) and commercial matters where ADRs are a considerable instrument for preventing disputes.

Through the teaching experience, the project aims to encourage the development of long-lasting networks of specialists on mediation, and create a strong basis for cooperation on future projects dealing with mediation and ADRs. The staff involved in the project is now preparing the first cycle of lessons on both family mediation and civil and commercial one.

The project is being collected data on the state-of-the-art of mediation, both Civil and Family mediation, across EU countries. To this purpose, there has just finished drafting the questionnaires on FAMILY mediation. We encourage you to participate!
